The kids will love these fun peanut butter sandwich ideas that add a fresh, wholesome twist to lunchtime. Featuring Super Grains bread from Alpine Valley Bakery.
When I was a kid, I had a peanut butter sandwich for lunch every. single. day. So yes, my palate has developed quite a bit since then! However, when I see my kids turn their noses up at 90% of the food I suggest, I try to be patient. They get their picky tendencies straight from mom.
So, peanut butter sandwiches it is. But I love to add fresh ingredients to the plain ‘ol peanut butter sandwiches and make something new and tasty. And hopefully expose the kiddos to more foods they’ll learn to love.
I start with Alpine Valley Bakery bread, both for its organic options, and the delicious taste! My kids love the soft texture, and I’m a fan of the clean, simple, organic ingredients.
Alpine Valley Bakery organic breads are Non-GMO Project Verified and Whole Grain Council-approved, which makes this mom happy. Whether we pick Multi Grain with Omega 3, Super Grains, or the Country White variety, I know my kids are getting nutrition that will fill them up with wholesome ingredients.
I top the Super Grains bread with creamy peanut butter (chunky PB or even almond butter or sun butter would also work), and add fresh, whole food toppings to the sandwich.
Some of our favorites… Banana with Granola (we love this version with flax seed!)
Just slice up a banana, and layer slices on top. Sprinkle on a Tablespoon of your favorite granola.
Apple- Cinnamon + Raisins
Slice up an apple into extra-thin slices, and top with a sprinkle of cinnamon and raisins.
Red Raspberry Preserves + Almond Slices
Use a spoon to drizzle preserves on top, and add 1 teaspoon of almond slices.
You can leave them as open-faced sandwiches, or top with another slice of Super Grains bread. Yum!
