Dare Crackers topped with fig jam & crumbled bleu cheese make for a deliciously simple appetizer.
For our family, summer is all about enjoying the outdoors. We get outside as much as possible, all season long. It’s great for kids to run around and burn off some energy, while the parents can kick back and relax.
In celebration of the season, we often have impromptu get-togethers with friends and family. Sometimes they are planned parties, but more often than not, it’s all very spontaneous. Isn’t that how summer is supposed to feel?
That’s what makes summer entertaining so fun for us… it’s casual and chill. I’ve learned that the easiest way to host a summer gathering that feels effortless is to have a few ideas in my back pocket. I’m talking about go-to food and drink options that I serve time and again, like this Dare crackers appetizer. Simple, scrumptious, and sophisticated without being stuffy. Plus, they take moments to make!
Start with Dare Crackers, the Breton variety. Crisp and hearty, these crackers are the perfect base for our appetizer. I really appreciate the depth of flavor. Dare Crackers come in many different varieties, making them ideal for all your summer canapés.
Spread on the fig jam… one of my favorite ingredients to add an unexpected flavor. It’s easier to use than fresh figs, and adds a mellow sweetness that I love.
Then top with crumbed bleu cheese to taste. I also added some dried parsley for a hint of flavor.
And that’s it! Set out on a platter and watch them disappear. The sweet & salty combination is always such a hit. You’ll see why this is a staple at our parties.
You can even leave the cheese board out with ingredients for your guest to top their own. Talk about an effortless appetizer!
Sunny days… humid nights… this app is perfect for pairing with an icy beverage and good conversation. Enjoy your summer… effortlessly!
