Let’s be real for a minute here. Sometimes Mama needs to take better care of herself. Between the math flash cards, the required reading minutes, and making sure our kids eat well-balanced meals;
sometimes often we put ourselves in last place. And let’s face it, that’s not good for anybody.
Case in point, we’ve been passing the Epic Cold of 2016 around our house since January. Every time it seems to be behind us, someone gets sick again. And then we all get sick. This story sound familiar to you? How about the part where the sick mom (or dad) takes care of everyone else when they themselves are sick? Happens all the time, right?
Well…after 2 months of this, I decided enough was enough. It was time to start taking care of myself so I could beat this bug once and for all. I knew that if I could get well, I would have enough energy to take good care of my littles, and make sure that everyone got better. All at the same time.
I visited the Nature Made 30 Day Healthy Habit Builder site and determined based on my “Need State” that I would take Vitamin D and Vitamin B supplements to help with my immune system and to boost my energy levels.
Furthermore, I signed up for the Nature Made Daily Boost program, which I highly recommend. Once you sign up, you’ll receive inspirational tips and health information, plus a snapshot into what other Nature Made fans are doing to stay healthy. It’s the perfect motivation to keep you going towards your health and wellness goals!
Based on the info I read on the Nature Made 30 Day Healthy Habit Builder site, I started working on a few key healthy habits this past month. Here’s what I’ve been up to…
Tea Before Bedtime
Few things are as relaxing as sitting down with a warm cup of tea. I’ve started a habit of drinking tea before bed, and it’s helped tremendously with falling asleep and my overall sleep quality. Plus it helps to prevent dehydration overnight.
Reading More Books & Using a Gratitude Journal
I’ve been taking time in the morning to read a few pages of a good book and write in my gratitude journal. It really helps to start my day on the right foot, and gives me a positive boost of energy for my day.
Taking Mental Breaks During the Day
Of course, this one is more of a goal than a daily reality, but when I find the time it is so refreshing to take a few moments and just decompress. I’ve found that it even helps me to be more productive at work. One of my favorite “me time” activities is reading cookbooks. I love to check out new recipes and get inspiration. Choose something that you love to do, and take a break every few hours to refresh your mind.
Eating a Healthy Breakfast Everyday
I’ve really been trying to make this a daily habit that sticks. It’s so important to get the right fuel in your body first thing in the morning. It really sets the tone for the rest of the day.
Snacking on Fruits & Veggies
I’m the type of person who eats decently healthy meals and then snacks all day. So lately, I’ve been munching on fruits and veggies, which has given me loads more energy. It really does come down to the basics of healthy eating.
Getting Outside More
The winter months are tough around here. It’s hard to motivate yourself to get outside when the wind chill is below zero. But, I just have to look at my daughter for inspiration. She loves to play outside, no matter the weather. Fresh air is so good for you, and it really wakes you up.
Drinking More Water & Taking My Vitamin C and B Supplements
Staying hydrated is so important for our optimal health and well-being. I like to start my day with a glass of water and be sure to take my vitamins. I have noticed a huge difference in how I feel since I’ve started a vitamin regime. Nature Made’s vitamins have helped me to fill in nutritional gaps. They’re the nation’s #1 best-selling brand for vitamins, supplements, and minerals*.
I’ve really been learning a lot since tapping into the Nature Made 30 Day Healthy Habit Builder site. Making the right choices leads to healthy habits, and I’m happy to say that as of this week, our family is feeling better than ever!
