Slow-Cooker-Hot-Chocolate-2

I’m not kidding with that title. This is rich RICH chocolate pudding.

If you’re not a rich chocolate person (like myself), it tastes even better cut with some whipped cream or marshmallow fluff.

If you ARE a rich chocolate person (starting to sound a little funny), then read on…

Slow-Cooker-Hot-Chocolate

I love the idea of a warm beverage or dessert heating up in the crockpot. It’s a break from the traditional soups, stews, or even (the super boring) baked chicken. Let’s put something fun in the slow cooker, shall we?

Very simple ingredients. Which is probably why it is so intensely chocolately. Homemade chocolate pudding is less of the sugar and more straight-up chocolate flavor. It’s in a completely different category than pudding cups  or even ready-mix puddings. Trust me.

See how thick? Don’t you just want to dive in?

Toss a few ingredients in the crockpot and watch it become your new favorite dessert. Add a scoop of ice cream or a brownie for extra credit.

Slow Cooker Rich Chocolate Pudding

Rich chocolate pudding, homemade in the slow cooker.
Prep Time 5 minutes
Cook Time 3 hours 35 minutes
Total Time 3 hours 40 minutes

Ingredients

  • 3 eggs
  • 2 cups, heavy cream
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 pound semisweet chocolate chips
  • 1/4 cup marshmallow cream, such as Fluff
  • whipped cream and 1 Tablespoon chocolate sprinkles for garnishing

Instructions

  • In a medium slow cooker, whisk together the eggs, cream and salt. Add the chocolate chips, cover and set the slow cooker to high heat to melt, about 30 minutes; whisk until smooth.
  • Cook on low heat for another 30 minutes. Scrape down the slow cooker; whisk the pudding. Cook until set at the edges but loose in the center, 1 hour 15 minutes; whisk until smooth. Hold on the warm setting.
  • Just before serving, whisk the pudding.
  • Spoon into mugs or bowls and top with whipped or marshmallow cream and chocolate sprinkles.

Do you know if this could be doubled or even tripled? Large family who loves choc. pudding. Also, instead of serving warm can it be refrigerated and still taste good?

Thank you for replying so soon. Going to make a batch to add to Christmas dinner desserts. Also going to try a batch using white choco. Chips and one with butterscotch chips. Not all the same day though. 🙂
