Based on the popularity of my family-friendly recipes, I know a lot of parents read this blog. When I heard about this awesome book program from Kellogg’s, I had to tell you guys all about it. Whether you are a parent, auntie, teacher, neighbor, babysitter, etc… this is a great opportunity to benefit the kids in your life. Plus it’s super easy, and just plain FUN to pick out new books.
I even have a mouth-watering recipe to share, inspired by Kellogg’s Eggo® Waffles– Monte Cristo-Style Waffle Sammy’s. Your family will gobble them up. But that’s for later…
First things first— FREE BOOKS!
All you have to do is purchase specially-marked Kellogg’s products from Walmart. (see above) Items that my family- and probably yours- buys all the time.
Next, head over to enter the code into the Kellogg’s Family Rewards site.*
You will have to create a profile, but it is so simple. You can also upload your receipt via text, via scanning into your computer or Kellogg’s Family Reward app — only when you purchase ONLINE between 7/21 – 9/11.
Once you enter your code, pick your books for donating or giving to a child yourself. You can even choose the school to receive your donation. Awesome! Your donated book will ship directly to the school you chose in an envelope that says it was generously donated by your family.
1 Kellogg’s product = 1 free, full-length Scholastic book, and each person can redeem up to 30 books. 30 books?! That’s an entire library. What kid couldn’t use an armful of new books?
Just make sure you redeem the codes within 14 days after purchase, no matter which product you purchase. All codes must be entered by 3/31/16. If your child is anything like my daughter, this won’t be an issue. We were online picking out books as soon as we got home from the store!
Hope your kiddos are as excited about this program as we are! The books will arrive within 6-8 weeks, although it is typically much sooner.
While you wait for your NEW books to arrive, may I suggest a delectable meal to make with one of my favorite Kellogg’s selections, Eggo® Waffles? You know I can’t resist an opportunity to make a classic food just a little more special.
I love the idea of a quick & easy Monte Cristo sandwich. I don’t always have time for the full-fledged epic fried sandwich, but I love the flavors. Plus, this recipe is much more kid-friendly.
Sprinkle liberally with powdered sugar. Then add some more.
Serve with a side of red currant jelly. Or any jelly that suits your fancy. Pictured is a combination of red currants and raspberries. Delish.
You guys, the sweetness of the powdered sugar with the saltiness of ham & swiss? To die for.
And it’s crunchy and melty. Two things I love in a sandwich.
Whip one up today and enjoy a book together. Picnic lunch & read-aloud books? Sounds like the perfect summer activity to me.
