Wow, two Friday posts in a row. Look at me go!
As I said before, having a school schedule means a stricter routine around here (even for Mom), so I’ve been uber productive this week. And exhausted– but that’s mostly Jillian Michaels’ fault.
Alyssa had her first day of Kindergarten on Monday.
She looks about 17 in that photo. But really, when did she get so tall??
I didn’t really cry that day, I’m more of a “wait til you’re alone” kind of crier. Like, two weeks from now, I’ll probably hear a sad song on the radio and tear up. The day of, I was too focused on getting everybody ready at the same time.
Oh, I guess I did cry already… this article definitely hit me hard. I read it while rocking the baby to sleep. Maybe it was the sleep deprivation or the teething infant, but I teared up immediately. I hadn’t thought of Kindergarten as a milestone for me, but I guess, in a way, it is.
You rocked and you fed and you soothed and you worried and you taught and you cuddled and you counted the nap time minutes and added up the ounces and marked the passage of time with pictures and gasps and tears.
So as that brave, crazy kindergarten teacher ushers you out tomorrow and closes the door behind you, be proud.
You did it. We did it.
It already feels pretty full-circle to me, since I have one child at the beginning of the baby stage and one at the end.
That baby is having some milestones of her own. My three month cutie:
She’s doing big girl things, like giggling, rolling over, and wearing hats that remind me of a granny.
Super happy. Ha.
She’s sleeping better; only waking up once a night.
Which gives me time for drinks with neighbors….
Lovelovelove the Skinnygirl White Wine. I was afraid that it would be too sweet, since it’s geared toward women, but it’s not. Perfectly crisp and delicious.
Another thing that’s been making me happy lately is revamping my wardrobe. Little by little, as budget allows, I’ve been trying to look like the right decade (30’s). It’s on my bucket list to have a decent wardrobe someday, so it’s been fun to shop around here and there.
And that’s all I’ve got for this week! Next week, I’m doing a Nocciolata bread twist. Don’t know about Nocciolata? Well, it’s delicious. See you then!
