This week I finally feel like I’m getting into a rhythm. Granted, it’s only been three weeks since my daughter was born, but that time feels a lot longer when your days (and nights!) are stretched to the max.
This week I managed to get back into blogging–missed you guys!–make my family a dinner that didn’t involve reheating a frozen casserole, and got the baby on a somewhat predictable nap schedule. It’s starting to feel like normal life again, and that’s the best thing about this week.
A’s fifth birthday party! Rainbow-themed as promised. She was so excited all week long, especially after the tent showed up in our yard. I was so impressed by her ability to haul chairs! “I’m a good helper!”, she’s always telling us.
And that rainbow cake? The hit of the party. My sister-in-law made a gorgeous cake with vibrant colors, and it was delish.
Sean stained the deck, which is chore he’s been meaning to do for like, years. Apparently, there’s like three good weekends in Chicago for staining decks. Has to be warm, but not too hot…no rain for days…and so on. But he got it done–check out the picture in the upper left of the party collage for an “After” shot.
I can’t remember where I first heard of “The Everygirl”, but it is such a cute (and useful!) website. They send out an email newsletter that is so fun to read.
Have you tried this? I’m still on the fence, but I’ve heard such great things. You pay anywhere from $5-10 a month, depending on how many months you purchase at a time, and they provide recipes and grocery lists. The cool parts, at least to me, are that you can choose from a bunch of different meal plans (Kid-Friendly, Low Carb, Clean Eating), and that they match the grocery list to sale items at the store of your choice. Pretty neat. We’ve been a dinner rut lately, so I might try it out.
These are the best swaddling blankets for a summer baby. I got some from my mom and a friend, and they are my fave. Oversized, lightweight, super soft….love ’em. They are also perfect for draping over the infant carrier when your child is outside.
I just realized I didn’t put up a single picture of the baby. Oh well, plenty of time for that! Happy Friday, everyone!
