This app is no joke. It’s quite possibly the tastiest thing I’ve made for this blog.
But let’s back up for a moment.
I decided to make this dish when I was asked to review these products from Surpahs.
Guys, I had never had a kitchen scale before, and now I love it. And those Bamboo cutting boards? Gorgeous. Perfect for when you have a bunch of chopped-up ingredients ready to go for a dish. Sitting in various spots all over your kitchen? Yeah, you know.
I used the scale to measure out the puff pastry… ain’t no shame in using the frozen stuff.
Cut up the pears…
…and the puff pastry.
Toss the pears in a skillet with some butter. Smelled so good.
Prep the tarts with the pears, gorgonzola, salt & pepper.
Out of the oven, top with red pepper flakes & a drizzle of honey.
Trust me, the combination of flavors is unbelievable. Sweet, salt, spicy….I gotcha.
Pear & Gorgonzola Tart Appetizers
1 sheet of puff pastry, thawed but chilled
2 pears, ripe yet somewhat firm, halved, cored, and thinly sliced
1 T butter
6 oz. Gorgonzola cheese
2 T honey
pinch of red pepper flakes
salt & pepper to taste
Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
Heat skillet to medium, add butter & pears, and saute for 5 minutes. Remove from heat and allowed to cool. Unroll puff pastry sheet and cut pastry into 9 equal pieces (3 rows of 3). To make a border around each tart, score each rectangle with a sharp knife near the edge. Prick the bottom (middle) of the pastry with a fork. Transfer tarts to parchment paper-lined baking sheet. Add a few slices of pear, some crumbled Gorgonzola, and salt & pepper to taste. Bake in oven for 15-20 mins, or until pastry is crispy and golden brown. Out of the oven, top with red pepper flakes (to desired spiciness) and a drizzle of honey.
