A round-up of gallery wall inspiration for the interior decorator in us all.
When we first moved into our house two years ago, my husband convinced me to paint a red accent wall in our living room. I’m not generally a fan of color, but I decided to trust him.
The color ended up being a fire engine red that did not match the rest of the room (or tile floor…) at all, and after bickering about it for months, we finally compromised on a “wine” shade of red.
And that is how I, again-not a fan of color, ended up with a red accent wall. The idea all along was to put neutral items on it, so as to break up the statement (heh), but our household decorating budget was disappearing into other rooms. Like, little miss. And, little miss #2.
I finally got around to purchasing these shelves at IKEA, with the hopes of imitating this design on one of the walls.
By the way, those shelves are also awesome as book shelves. We bought a bunch to put in the girls’ rooms too. More on that another time.
So that project is underway. In the meantime, I’m firming up my plans for a gallery wall on the other side. Lots of bright red decorations. Kidding….only neutrals.
Here are a few winning gallery walls I’m loving for inspiration:
Awkward angle, but I love the idea of objects & pictures together. Really makes things more interesting.
Ignoring the girly feel, this wall looks amazing. Obviously, it’s a women’s office, but it looks very luxe, and not too hard to pull off.
Simple, easy, sophisticated. Well-done.
I really like the whimsy in this one. Quirky, cute, but still gown-up. And who doesn’t love an ampersand??
So those are my idols. Do you have a gallery wall? Was it a pain in the tail to hang? Please tell me no…
