I know it’s football season, my husband knows it’s football season, and my tv certainly knows it.
But I’m not the biggest sports fan…. you know what I can get behind?
Yep, having a bunch of friends over, eating tasty apps with all the kids running around?
That’s my idea of good time.
I don’t want to spend a ton of time in the kitchen, but it’s fun to come up a tasty spin on something classic, like a frozen pizza.
DiGiorno Pizzas are currently on Rollback at Walmart… which fits perfectly into my party budget.
$4.50 a pizza? Yes, please!
So here’s how it went down- I wanted to give my pizzas a certain something extra.
First up, a five-cheese pizza with arugula salad topping.
I love how fancy restaurants serve salad on top of pizza. Makes it look so festive. Plus, you can have a salad and pizza, which makes it the perfect meal!
The arugula salad was so simple… didn’t want to spend too much time in the kitchen.
Simple Arugula Salad:
3 cups arugula salad, washed
2 Tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
handful of blue cheese crumbles (or whichever crumbled cheese you prefer)
good swig of lemon juice (add to taste)
1/4 teaspoon fresh ground pepper
1/2 teaspoon salt
Toss & top pizza!
Next up, one of all-time favorite flavors: Buffalo Chicken with Blue Cheese
Such a classic game time flavor, right?
Dice up some cooked chicken breast, brown, and top with hot sauce.
Add to pizza, and top with blue cheese crumbles and dried parsley.
Now that pizza is dressed to impress! My party people loved it and so will yours!
Do you guys like to upgrade classic football food? Maybe put a twist on something easy to prepare? I’d love to hear your ideas!
