I feel like every Friday I say, “This week was crazy!”
But every week has been crazy. Particularly this summer. Nearly everyone in our family has a birthday in the summer. Plus my parents are snow birds and travel down south for most of the winter, which means that we pack all the family time into three months of summer.
Plus, this month I’ve been working from home more, and even picked up a babysitting gig. (nannying? can you babysit past the age of 18?) I’ve been bizzzzzy.
One of the things I’ve figured out about myself since turning 30 is that I do a lot better at life, in general, when I have a lot going on. Not too much, of course. I just prefer to be busy, rather than bored. I tend to be anxious about a lot of things, and it works better for me to be active than sit around worrying myself to death. Relaxing–unless I’m exhausted– just makes me tired and melancholy. I’d rather try and tackle my to do list. Sounds nuts, but it works for me.
I like being in my thirties, takes a lot of the guesswork out of life.
So, busy week. Got that?
New pavers around the flower beds.

We were replacing these:
Charming, right? And gawd, look at those… what are they… spikes? Apparently, they are VERY hard to wedge out of the ground. Just ask my husband. Good riddance to the peeling, moldy wood.
Bought some fall nail colors.
I thought the tiny bottles were cute, until I realized that they only last for like, three manicures. Hmm. That’s something to remember.
Took my daughter to the dinosaur exhibit at the zoo. She was totally confused, because she’s always been told that they aren’t alive (anymore). And there they were, moving and growling, with skin and all. Hence, the look on her face.
But, once she got over the weird factor, she loooooved them. I mean, just look at this face.
Also, excuse the crappy iphone pictures. Thanks much.
Loved these cookies with hazelnut coffee. I’m a sucker for shortbread.
Speaking of food, had a craving for Portillos, and wanted to show people without the God’s gift to Chicago what the lunch line looks like.
I mean, it moves, but still. And people happily sit in it. Can you imagine pulling up to the McDonald’s and seeing this?? I should also mention that I was about halfway down the line at this point.
Link up & tell everybody about your week!
