Sometimes I forget the difference between upcycled and recycled. Is it just “gifting” if your mom gives you your old desk? Was it yours anyway?
Maybe it becomes yours when you have to scrap a million stickers off the top with some goo-gone and few choice curse words. Smart woman, my mother. She didn’t get annoyed when I decorated it way back when because she knew I would need it again someday.
So now it’s in Boo’s room!
I kept all the hardware, since it’s got a cute vintage vibe. It’s pretty well constructed since it’s lasted for decades.
She’s not exactly doing homework yet, but it’s a nice place for her to draw and color.
By the way, don’t read that “Someday” book if you’re a female in a certain time of the month or, in my case, any time of the month. I think it freaks my daughter out that I cry so much when I read it.
And the shelves….
They started out plain white and I painted the pink stripe with craft paint I had leftover from decorating her armoire. (more on that soon)
Does your kid(s) have a special spot to write and draw? It does feel kinda cool that she’s using my childhood desk. It’s a fun connection.
