Ah Birchbox. I did it for a few months about a year ago (that’s some fuzzy math) and wasn’t really impressed. It was a lot of trendy (youngish) stuff that I didn’t use. And who needs that many perfume samples? But recently I started noticing that I collected a lot of high-end lip glosses/chapsticks during that time that I still use. Mostly, I thought it would be a fun blogging topic. So here’s my first box back in the game!
Twistband Headband…..I was pretty excited to see this. I’ve been meaning to try one of these “twist” tie hair doodles and I loved the silver sparkly color. But. It’s super tight on my head. I also tried wrapping it around my ponytail, but there was really just too much material. Hmm. And I just a headband wimp? It’s really tight.
whish shave cream in blueberry….now THIS is what I expect when I order Birchbox. Something fun, unexpected, that I wouldn’t normally buy, but still want to use. I can always use shaving cream. I would never buy blueberry scent, but it actually smells decent, and again, that’s the point.
Nail file (Madewell for Birchbox)… nothing earth-shattering. Cute. Display-worthy.
Stay, Don’t Stray… I love Benefit cosmetics, so I was happy to see this. So far, it’s worked like a charm.
evologie… I tried it on a couple blemishes (what is a good word for zit, anyway?) and didn’t really notice a difference from my usual go-to pimple cream. It smells nice and works fine, nothing exciting here.
Overall, happy I’m back. Did I get $10 worth of stuff? Probably. But I feel like you also pay for the excitement and fun of getting the box each month. That’s definitely part of it for me.
