Check out this list of no-prep snacks for an energy boost on-the-go!
We LOVE summer in this part of the country. After thawing out from the winter, we get dependably decent weather for months, and we soak up every minute. Days are filled with playdates, pool parties, park trips, and grilling out. It’s the BEST time of year to enjoy some family time together.
As much as I love this season, it is SO easy to get burned out, especially as a mom of younger kids. Long days, missed naptimes, and hot weather can wear on any parent. You find yourself dragging into the bedtime hour. Or feeling drained during the late afternoon hours. No good.
After nearly a decade of summers spent with kids in diapers, I’ve come to rely on 3 basic guidelines for surviving this time of the year:
- Have a (loose) schedule
- Get good sleep at night–for everyone!
- Keep a stock of energy-boosting snacks in my travel bag.
Snacks aren’t just for the kids, guys. Trust me when I say that the right snacks can get you through the day with no sweat. Ok, a little sweat…. it’s humid out.
I rely on no-prep snacks like Lorissa’s Kitchen, to pack in my bag and eat wherever our day takes us.
I found Lorissa’s Kitchen in the snack aisle of my local Kroger store, and it’s been a favorite snack ever since. Flavorful, portable, and filled with good stuff, it’s perfect for a busy day when I’m on the go. I LOVE that I don’t have to worry about refrigeration, and it’s always ready. Just pop open and go.
Plus, it’s delish. With flavors like Korean Barbeque Beef and Ginger Teriyaki Chicken, this is not your ordinary protein snack. It’s a premium snack all the way, with responsibly raised proteins, like 100% grass-fed beef, and responsibly raised pork. And it’s full of ingredients that can be found in your own kitchen. Gotta love that!
Along with the Lorissa’s Kitchen snack, I prioritize no-prep snacks that make it easy to refuel on the go. Cut up fruits and veggies are always a good idea, plus I choose a few other high protein and/or high fiber snack items to pack:
- dried cereal (opt for low-sugar, high-fiber varieties)
- trail mix
- turkey pepperoni
Each of these items can last for hours in a beach/park bag. And of course, my ever-present water bottle comes along on every adventure.
With a few quality snacks, I can go from dawn til dusk, no problem.
This summer, do yourself a favor and pack some easy, no-prep Lorissa’s Kitchen protein snacks. (I’m partial to the Korean Barbeque Beef!)
Go forth and snack!
